Andrea Leadsome Visit
The visit by Andrea Leadsom to the village hall on Friday went very well and was attended by close to one hundred from the village and elsewhere who were interested to hear Andrea's views on the Referendum.
Andrea gave a very comprehensive explanation of why she feels the UK would be better off out of the European Union and spent another half an hour answering questions from the floor. The overall impression was that everyone, whatever their personal feelings on the subject, gained a better understanding of a large number of the important issues involved in this hugely important decision.
The meeting was scheduled to be entirely non political with the cost to be born by the promoters.
To raise money towards the costs we raffled a bottle of House of Commons Whiskey and asked for donations. Thanks to the generosity of those attending this income more than covered the costs and, as we advertised we would, the surplus is to be divided between the Village Hall and our Church repairs.
I am delighted to say they will each receive £101.00.
We are extremely grateful to all who contributed and ask that our thanks could be recorded on the Village website.
County Connect Bus Service
CountyConnect is an `on demand` rural public transport service in Northamptonshire which anyone can use.
The journeys the bus makes are defined by users each day, so there is no fixed timetable.
A typical journey to Banbury, Brackley or Towcester costs around £5 return, so it's good value when you factor in petrol and parking costs when driving in.
To book a journey or for more information please call 0345 4564474 or register and book online via this website...

£25,000 Church Roof Appeal - update
The Moreton Pinkney Garden Club agreed to donate £500 towards the cost of Church roof repairs at it's Annual General Meeting on 14th March 2016.
South Northants District Council has just promised £5000 towards our appeal. This will bring the total raised to £13200, a magnificent effort by the fundraisers and a testament to the generosity of the Villagers.
The recent Moreton Market Auction of Promises, superbly organised by Emma Danby and Henrietta Appleton, raised £2105.
Future events being planned are -
Other donations are still coming in, including a £200 from AJR Electrical of Eydon.
The roof repair costs amount to around £20,000 and the PCC has decided to commit a further £6000 towards an alarm. This was not an easy decision, but the church is still vulnerable given that around half the roof remains covered in lead. An alarm will not only reduce the chances of repeat theft, it will also remove our current insurance limit of £7500.
