PCSO Clive Ashmore intoduced himself and Charlotte Whitehead and reported that 7 crimes had been committed in our village between April and December last year, mostly by thieves from out of our area driving through the village looking for opportunities.
Farm equipment, horse tack, scrap metal and red diesel were common targets but items have also been stolen from parked cars so make sure that no valuables are left on display or unattended.
He warned that the commonest crime in the South Northants area wastheft of car number plates which are then stuck on to criminal's cars to drive off without paying for fuel, speed through police cameras or avoid the London Congestion charge. The message was clearly thatyour number plate is very valuable, so please make sure it is attached to your vehicle securely.
Special one-way screws can be purchased at most hardware shops to prevent this from happening.
Referring to the recent dog attacks on livestock, we were reminded that all dogs should be kept on a lead in such fields and that a livestock owner has the right in law to shoot any animal attacking his livestock.
